Kolambugan in Interfaith Healing Prayer

Kolambugan, LDN. Over 500 residents expressed solitary at the Interfaith Healing Prayer sponsored by the civil society of Lanao held in the Municipality of Kolambugan. Kolambugan is a town under siege by the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) nearly two weeks ago.
The Interfaith Healing Prayer forms the initial action of the Task Force on Muslim-Christian Dialogue (TFMCD) in its call for a Muslim-Christian understanding. It was premised to bridge the gap between the Muslims and Christians as a result of the present hostilities.
The Interfaith Healing Prayer highlighted the momentous expression of solidarity among different faith in seeing things through amidst all uncertainties. Muslim and Christian prayers were implored. After the prayers, Muslims and Christians were grouped apart. The symbolic expression of solidarity took place in the middle of the auditorium when both Muslims and Christians met and peacefully hugged each other and hold hands. A unified prayer was recited while the people are holding hands.
Honourable Khalid Dimaporo, Governor for Lanao del Norte and Honourable Irma Ali, Vice-Governor for Lanao del Norte came in unity with the residents of Kolambugan from different religious groups (Catholics, Muslims, and Evangelicals) as an expression of common aspiration towards peace. Vice-Governor Irma Ali expressed her call for understanding and true brotherhood among Muslims and Christians.
Gov. Khalid Dimaporo praised the better relations among Muslims and Christians in the Municipality of Kolambugan and a call for strengthening these relations to promote peace and order. He also acknowledged the cooperative efforts of Defense Secretary Teodoro and DILG Secretary Puno with the Provincial Government in assisting the civilians at these times. He rightfully pointed the purpose of the TFMCD to help the people move on and see forward amidst diversity.

A witness to the MILF attack in Kolambugan, Rev. Fr. Reggie Quijano expressed that the Interfaith Healing Prayer is not about Muslim-Christian conflict, instead to serve as venue to address the problem. The people came together for peace however, nothing can replace good deeds. The people need more assistance now than ever and the people of Kolambugan should be given justice.
The Municipal Mayor of Kolambugan, Honourable Lumaque also shared his wishes for the opportunity to heal those wounded and that relations will be renewed. He expressed the call to bring back the family and the development of Kauswagan destroyed by the recent MILF attack as a priority towards the healing process.
